The Maiden edition of AKWA IBOM ICT COMPETITION held at IMFI ICT ACADEMY Nsikak Eduok Avenue Uyo on Friday 8 July 2022 witnessed massive turn out as Students, stakeholders in education and ICT sector participate fully in the competition.
The event had in attendance the Honorable commissioner for Education – Mrs Idongesit Etiebet represented by a director in the ministry, SAs to the Governor on ICT, CEO/CTO of various ICT firms, University Lecturers, teachers, parents and parents.some schools that took part in the competition include Tower of Ivory schools Abak, Goodnews International school Abak, Fame College Eket, Bright Star Model Secondary school Uyo, King Solomon International Schools, Uyo, Deeper Life secondary school Uyo, Adiaha Obong Secondary school Uyo, among many other schools across different local government of the state. The competition whose main goal was to discover ICT talents and also awaken the consciousness of young people towards ICT had schools across the state compete for various prizes. Akwa Ibom ICT competition 2022 was organized by Tech Affairs on Radio, a Technological enlightenment Radio show on Passion 94.5 Fm Uyo Uyo.
The event was organized into two parts with part 1 for competition and part 2 for prize and award ceremony as well as presentation by resourced persons. The 1st Part had 3 rounds beginning with round one which had 30 objective questions for students to answer in 30 minutes, round 2 was a practical test and competing Students were tested on basics Data Analysis skills: raw dataset were given for them to compute, organize and present the data graphically. At the end of round 2, top 8 Finalists were shortlisted for the final stage. The final stage was to test Students on their creative skills . 3 Students emerge winners of the competition.
