Steps to take before auto-renewing your subscription

As the year roll out, some of the products and services that you subscribe to will be expiring. If you’re happy with a subscription and want to continue with it, auto-renewals can be convenient.

But before getting your credit card charge, I would like to share tips on things you should keep in mind about auto renewal.

1. Before renewing your subscription automatically, a company must send you a renewal notice. Therefore, carefully read the notice to prevent falling for a scam

2. Check that the cost is what you expected. Sometimes when the renewal automatically happens, you’re charged more than you were last time.

3. Scammers sometimes send fake renewal notices to get your financial information. If you get a renewal notice for a subscription you don’t have, it’s probably from a scammer or a dishonest company trying to get you to give them your credit card information. So, don’t call the number on the notice or click on any email or text message link.
